New Supplier Quality application gives OEMs greater confidence in suppliers’ products, prior to the manufacturing/integration process SANTA CLARA, Calif. – May 1, 2006 – SigmaQuest™ Inc., the leading provider of software for managing product quality throughout manufacturing and a product’s lifecycle, today introduced Supplier Quality Insight, a new SigmaSure application that provides OEMs with the means to better manage and track the quality of suppliers’ components, before committing to the assembly of broader product offerings.
Supplier Quality Insight gives OEMs the ability to define, capture and track key component characteristic information, directly from suppliers and their manufacturing partners, and view it via comprehensive analytics and a personalized dashboard. This data—that can span multiple real-time and historical data sources, plus the entire extended supply chain—can be collected directly from test equipment, pulled from data files, or loaded by the supplier into easy-to-use web forms. The data can also be seamlessly integrated with that from design, ERP/MRP, MES and CRM applications. Furthermore, this new application allows for greater online collaboration between OEMs, suppliers and contract manufacturers as important requirements, performance, and shipment data can be shared among dispersed organizations. Moreover, operators are given the means to perform inspection at the source, before they ship the product to the OEM or contract manufacturer. “Through the ongoing delivery of our SigmaSure software system to Fortune 500 customers, we have found that many OEMs are seeking an automated ‘inspection at the source’ system that readily identifies if their suppliers’ components, ranging from transformers to PC boards, have quality problems. Supplier Quality Insight addresses this issue with real-time insight into the quality of suppliers’ products and the means to quickly determine if these products meet key characteristics criteria, ranging from product specification to the correct number of units shipped,” said Nader Fathi, CEO of SigmaQuest. “Supplier Quality Insight helps OEMs, particularly those with complex supply chains that involve multiple manufacturing sites or suppliers, ensure superior and reliable supplier offerings, while helping to lower their costs. This is critical as OEMs continue to tell us that the quality of components purchased from suppliers influences product quality more than any other factor except design quality.” SigmaQuest’s SigmaSure Supplier Quality Insight provides views of suppliers’ data via analytical reports and supplier quality dashboards that help users drill down to isolate and resolve problems related to suppliers. It also features the ability to create custom reports and charts for specific suppliers and products. With tighter control of production, reducing and or eliminating paperwork and accelerating the timeliness of information, the application quickly helps users identify if defects are product process or supplier related. The application is architected for the Web and can be accessed via any Web browser as it uses the latest Internet standards (SML, SOAP, etc.). It can also easily be deployed across multiple sites with differing computing infrastructures. The software is available as either a SigmaQuest, web-hosted Software as a Service, or as a direct license hosted by the customer. Supplier Quality Insight is available to customers today as a stand-alone offering or as part of the SigmaSure product suite at a U.S. list price beginning at $35,000. The Supplier Quality Insight license features a dashboard, statistical process control, analytics, issue tracking, run charts and histograms, and comes with installation and usage training, maintenance and support.
